Cover of “Is This Love” by Randy Allen & Rockwell Fukino

2 Nov

What an honor it is to work with a well respected veteran Rockwell Fukino!  This man understands that its not about him… or me .. but the music that we share… for you!  Whoa deep haha :)

Daniel Gilad & Jason Laeha are students at the MELE Recording Program at HCC.  They have a special project where they need to record a band with MIDI & Live Instruments.  Daniel who also supervises at Hard Rock Cafe was so kind to ask me to be a part of their project.  Rockwell just happened to be at the right place at the right time in Easy Music (where we met for the first time).

Long story short… here’s the 1st take scratch track that we will be sharing with our bass & drummer (whom we haven’t found yet).  And with Daniel’s blessing… I share with you… enjoy ;)

We were all nervous right up till 30 minutes prior to the ceremony… it had been raining!  Thank God it cleared up at the perfect time for the ceremony.  Luana Hills is another beautiful location for ceremonies, take a look…

Shawn & Kimberly :)

I wish you two the best!!!!

Hey Brides! I recently learned about this cool wedding website called weddingwire.com and made an account :) There’s a bunch of wedding sites out there… All of them have their perks. This one seemed most user friendly to me…

I also offer a special deal but you’ll have to search me on weddingwire to find out what it is ;)

Congrats Nadia & Ian!

Today was a last minute wedding… I love those… especially when I can play them :)   Big Mahalo to Tori Rogers from Hawaiian Island Wedding Planners for thinking of me, I hope to work with you more in the future.  Your team made the beautiful ceremony perfectly!

On a side note, this wedding I played unplugged.  Although, it is way easier and convenient for me to not have to set up anything… I always believe its better, even with a little amplification, for the wedding party.  Now there are some places the prohibit any sort of amplification and in those cases you can’t help it.

I just recently purchased a Roland AC-33 amp and its perfect for those beach/lawn ceremonies.  It is very discreet and can run on batteries!!!  Here’s a picture of me during a cocktail hour using this little awesome amplifier :)   For me to bring this amp, it is an additional flat rate of $150 on top of the hour/s you book me.  Thanks for reading… Aloha!

September Schedule Posted!

1 Sep

This is going to be my last busy gig month.  I never thought I’d want to ever again, but starting next month October, I’m going to work a steady day job.  The typical reaction when I share it with my close relationships is, “You sure man?”.  I’ve made some really bad decisions in my life and most times even today I have no idea if I’m making a right decision.  BUT, If I really check my heart, which I have (thought about it for the last 3 months from every possible angle), I know this is what I should do for a better quality of life in the long run.

Yes, sure I’m going to miss having pretty much every “day-time” off… but I was becoming a lazy slob haha.  Sleeping in every day… most days just staying home doing nothing till my gig.  Sounds cool right?  It’s actually not… I wasn’t liking who I’ve become.  I guess I’ve learned that I’m the kind of guy when there’s a lot of free time… I do nothing with it.  So starting October, less free time equals.. when there is free time, its so much more special.

So where am I going to work?  Only the BEST day job ever… back at Easy Music Center!!!  I used to be a sales guy, but now I’m going be laying low in a office doing backbone stuff.. which I love!  I’m so thankful and ready to work… my first day back today!  I can confidently say that this company is the best at what they do.  If you need music gear, they got it with the lowest national prices… guarantee.

ah blabbin away… and feeling grateful…

Thanks for reading,

- Randy Allen
